I recently gave a whole bunch of books to Goodwill the other day. I'm getting ready to make the usual toy run over there soon as well!

I'm a pack rat so I usually don't get rid of anything unless it's completely destroyed and in that case, it goes in the trash since it's useless. The times I've gotten rid of 'good' things it's only been one item at a time so it's not like I'd travel all the way to Salvation Army just to drop off one sweater. I live in NYC where everyone just puts bags of clothes on the street and people usually just take the stuff within a few hours. There are people who dig through all the garbage every night and they take what they need and leave the rest for someone else. I draped a coat on a fence once and watched a homeless looking man walk by, put it on and walk away.
Same goes with furniture. Everyone here takes furniture off the street so it's basically the same as giving it to charity. I've found bags of designer clothing on the sidewalk and taken a shirt or two before.

When I lived in the suburbs, I had more space and I was able to put together bags of stuff I didn't want anymore and I'd always drive it over to Salvation Army and drop it off.

*These days, I'm a little bothered at some of the prices at the Salvation Army. They're selling used leather coats for $100 where I live. I know the money goes to charity but it's not like the really needy people can always afford to shop there!

Woolies supplies their stuff to charity on the day of the expiration (not previous the date, and that's for their packaged waiting-made meals, i don't understand what they do with the produce), or a minimum of they used to. If I keep in mind wisely one replace into an after college application for needy teenagers and yet another replace right into a set of properties for Aids orphans. i'm uncertain approximately the different shops whether it may well be criminal in the event that they only throw it away whilst there are a super sort of people in prefer.

Donate, if you take pics of what you donate and acquire a receipt it could be used as a tax write off. Into the thousands. That's why it's better to donate your car instead of selling it. You get more for it in the long run. Lol.

Donate...always

Donate always! It is awful to think of something languishing in the landfill when someone could get some use out of it. That thing you think is junk could be revived by someone else, or end up as an antique in a collection someday, instead of leeching plastic into the groundwater.

I donate clothes in good condition.
I gave 6 fur coats to Coats for Kids one year, along with 2 leather and 5 good coats.

I donate all my clothes to the Salvation Army. I'll wait until i have a huge box, then go drop it off. I think of all the teens-young adults that really still want to be semi-fashionable, even though they may not be able to afford it. It makes me feel better, and i know they do too. :)

I am very big on donating. But I only donate things that are in good condition. If it has holes..it goes in the trash.
