You could try the Dynasty Warriors series. It's battlefield action hack and slash with a lot of button mashing, but it never gets boring. It kinda has a very very very very light rpg element since the characters you play power up after battles and you can collect items to use. There are a lot of different playable characters, depending on which version you play, and each has his or her own move set. It's easy to learn, fun to co-op, and has great replay value. It's also based on Chinese history and stories, so it feels kinda educational. lol.

Try Obscure, it may be a little tricky to find but it's worth it! Its a PS2 and Xbox (its on both systems). A basic synopsis- You are a group of highschool students, going to school, blah blah blah. You find out that the school has a very dark and twisted past, and it's up to you and your group stay alive, and keep each other alive. Its a survival horror game, with lots of puzzles and great gameplay.
You combine items, pick locks, do anything to stay alive! You switch between, 5 kids (if i remember correctly) 4 boys and 2 girls. You can play the game together (to people at a time), or alone. You have the freedom to switich out an in at any given time.
I hope this helps! Try Gamestop, EB excetra, for this game. You should be able to find it.
