The original Busted Mike, believe it or not, is an automata; a hand made wooden moving toy.
He got his name because during the construction process, one of the parts broke, and had to be repaired, in situ.
Once the glue had dried, the 'break' was visible, although it doesn't affect the way he works.
Busted Mike was the first name that came to mind.
Sometimes the truth is So unglamorous.
As for his maker? I like him. I've known him for years, and as the locals say, he's a good bloke.

Well I don't care if he's married or not - heck, I'm married too - but I'm ready to sign up for the Busted Mike Swooners. His wife must be a very special and lucky woman, and I'm sure she adores him too - but he's public property now!
Oh, and Mike, don't sweat it about not seeing the parents too often, I'm sure they just appreciate it all the more when they do see you.

I do find it interesting that he says he's not too deep, but that he had an answer like that. Great answer!
