I suggest if you want thinking of upgrading to vista from XP then you will need at least 2Gb ram so that all the applications will work properly 1GB is not enough and may run a bit slow or freeze,
also it would be far better to buy vista already installed on a new computer for it to work smoothly with no problems, the next issue is the additional software that you need to install, make sure that it says " vista ready " on the box/package before you buy it.
Good luck

to be user-friendly i does not do the two. you ought to get 4gb yet you will certainly in basic terms see 3.1gb on your device so in result your paying £50 for 1gb. you would be able to as properly improve to vista 64bit first, then get 2 X 2 GB, or maybe purchase 2 gadgets so which you have 8. you wont word any difference with 3.1gb as a pose to 2 besides, in actuality it may well be slower because of the fact the 2gb will run in twin channel mode. i in basic terms opened crysis and started enjoying a point with a lot happening then alt tabbed out and it replace into in basic terms making use of a million.26gb of ram. so thats what i'd do!

Depending on your pc, you'll need more than gb ram to run Vista. But truly, If were you, and got the $$, I would buy a mac. Brother, it's way better: more simple and efficient, quick and much less troublesome (no crashes, no virus, spywares for ex.)

First off, are you sure your pc is good enough to run vista properly? Have you run the compatability test? You say your pc is good but if it's running less than a gig of ram to begin with then it sounds a bit old to me. Anyways Ebayers cheap - but indifferent with supply, i personally recommend scan.co.uk

getting the cheapest RAM is a very bad idea since you should really get what u can afford, not whats the cheapest, since if you buy decent RAM you will sure notice the difference, but if you buy the cheap crap, you will hardly notice anything.
well since you didnt say where u live, im guess at being america u could check eg http://www.tigerdirect.com
