I'm surprised at how few people enjoy reading, I've always loved reading ever since before I can remember. My favourite authors are John Wyndom and Ray Bradbury, I remember reading Fahrenheit 451 when I was 11, and thinking it was the best book I ever read, what's your favourite book?

Reading is boring and has too few car chases.

I love reading and books, and have always enjoyed the odd happy afternoon spent pottering about in the local library or second-hand book store!

In fact just before Xmas I quit my well paid job as a computer programmer and have just been offered a post as a library assistant. I'll actually get paid to talk to and help people, will have a far better work-life balance AND be around books all day. Perfect!

Don't have a fave book of all time, though I do enjoy a spot of crime fiction and of stumbling across some amazing stuff published by Penguin Classics.

I love reading, I always have to read for at least 30mins before going to sleep. My favourite books are the Dark Tower series by Stephen King - I was completely absorbed in the story from start to finish, but didn't get much sleep for a few months! I love Ray Bradbury too, especially his short stories.

Yes, I love to read - it's really easy to get lost in a good book! Fahrenheit 451 was a great one. I love Hemingway, too - The Sun Also Rises is my favorite book, but I also love the collection of his short stories. I also enjoy Robin Cook medical thrillers and Dean Koontz suspense thrillers. I think people who don't take the time to open a good book are really missing out.

Yes I do. My favorite authors are Dickens, Agatha Christie, Shakespeare and lots of romance novels for variety. I, too, read Bradbury when I was 11 (The Illustrated Man). I read "Animal Farm" and George Orwell's "1984" when I was 10 or 11.

My favorite book is "Curtain", which is about Hercule Poirot's last case.

It rates up there right behind breathing in my list of favourite activities. (I admit to frequently reading while eating).

It took me a long while to "get" Ray Brabury.
Favourite books divide into categories: most eye-opening, most informative, most entertaining...
Some that made a lot of impact did not do so well on re-reading, others get better with each visit.

Fantasy: Tim Powers at his best: "Last Call" "The Anubis Gates" "The Stress of Her Regard" (but at his worst his tales don't work),
Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings,

History: "The Battle for Spain" Antony Beevor
"The Battle of the Bulge" Charles Macdonald.

Philosophy: Keith Stanovich The Robot's Rebellion.

Possibly, amongst so many other candidates...

I love reading and just could not live without my books, I will read anything and everything, I'm like that little robot, more input, I read a lot of philosophy because its something I'm interested in but don't talk about to people as most find it boring, I also read a lot of spirituality books as that is a great love of mine, I don't particularly have a favourite author/ess but for light reading and time out I do like Cathy Kelly and Meave Binchy, books to lose yourself in.

I am always amazed at how many people I know that don't read books, but I think that the internet has taken over and a lot of people spend time in chat rooms. I love Dean Koontz, Steven King and Marian Keyes - I think it's amazing where they get their inspiration from. But the two books that have really affected me are:
The Time Travellers Wife by Audrey Niffenegger (You have to read this!)
The Lovely Bones by Alice Seabold (Beautifully written and incredibly sad)

Les Miserables, by the French author Victor Hugo, just amazing, I think I'll never forget it.
I also enjoyed The pillars of the earth, by Ken Follet, and
Scarlet and Black, also by a magnificent French author, Stendhal.

I like many more, but I wouldn't finish

Oh, I love it. Nothing better than curling up with a good book. Beats TV anyday. I love science fiction/fanstasy so I read Issac Asimov, Kurt Vonnegut, H.G. Wells, Robert Asprin, Poul Anderson, George Orwell. I don't have a favorite, I don't like reading books a second time.

But my sister, I don't think she's read two books in her whole life. Even as young children we had that difference. I would bring my poor mom as stack of 15 books for her to read to me, my sister would get bored halfway through one.
