Depending on where you are they will send you home if you are not fully ready. Many European hospitals will keep you for observation before sending you to L&D to actually deliver, go if you want to know what is going on, but be prepaired to be sent right back home.

Yes, my aunt has a high threshold of pain, and she just felt cramps for almost 24 hours, so she drove herself to the hospital in the middle of the night to see what was going on. They told her it couldn't possibly be in lobor if she managed to drive herself. Turns out she was 8 centimeters dialated and had the baby an hour later. But like I said, the hospital didn't think it was possible and the woman has a FREAKISHLY high pain tolerance.

Yes, but I was only in the first stages of labor. They sent me home. I went back 2 more times and they finally admitted me into the hospital the third time. If you aren't dilated/effaced enough, and your contractions aren't consistent or too far apart they will send you home until they get closer.

Good luck!

It didn't happen to me, but you should probably go to the hospital. I've heard of it happening that way for some. Better safe than sorry.
