I was driving on the highway and noticed that my car started making a weird sound kind of like a roaring sound. Then i realized that i had it on brake. I released the brake but my car continued to make the same sound every time i would accelerate in speed mainly higher then 50-60mph. Can you tell me does this sound like a serious problem and if you know what is the problem. My car is a Honda civic year 2003.

Could be the the brake is stuck even though you released the lever.

Since this isn't a "do-it-yourself" even if you get the answer here, I would just visit a local garage to have it diagnosed.

If you left the emergency brake on while drive at speeds you like destroyed the brake. This will leave pieces in side the brake drum and will continue to grind away until you get it fixed. Which i recommend doing right away so there is no more damage to your braking system. especially if you are highway driving.

Sounds as if your rear brake pads are worn, proably your rotors or drums too. Driving with the e-brake on wears the pads out alot faster that normal driving. Keep driving without replacing or fixing the problem and it can get costly. Go to any brake shop and get a free check-up.

it seems as if you broke the brake...couldn't help myself.

take the car to a mechanic and tell them you were driving with the e-brake on and they will know what to look for. lots of people make that mistake.

and the future, pull the e-brake as hard as you can when you use it. if it is not pulled tight, the car will still drive. if you pull it in really good, there is no way you will get that car moving.

i'd start up by skill of checking Air filter out, gasoline and seek for any glaring motives. Like loose cables, grimy connectors, loose vacuum traces, and so on. do exactly a typical automobile maintenance. replace plugs if by no skill been completed, oil, the belt which you point out, wash the engine (so which you will see leaks and or something which you will not be able to work out). in case you nonetheless have issues it must be a undesirable sensor this is "not broken" yet sending the incorrect data to the pc. must be the Mass air flow, Throttle place, Plug Catalytic Converter, Oxygen Sensor or a mixture of any. in basic terms start up with a great maintenance and notice what happens.

your pads, caliper, and drum are shot.that you havent described the same noise occuring whenever you apply the brakes to stop, suggests the master cylinder is also gone.youve thoroughly disintegrated one of the vehicles braking assemblies at one of the tires.you may be losing brake fluid.when that happens, there will be no warning.you will depress the pedal to stop and simply nothing will happen.if that happens, gear down and try to crash into something relatively soft lol.go straight to a brake shop and bring...mmmmm...about 7 or $800.
