Neo-conseravatism does not believe in having a small government, does not make efforts to increase border security, and is not fiscally responsible.
Liberalism is something which is meant to support minority rights and the people in need, and conservatives hate supporting Americans in need because it resembles "socialism".
So they don't know what to choose, right? I know many true conservatives who are disgusted with the Bush administration, because the Bush administration are clearly a bunch of traitors to traditional conservatism.

Maybe this conservative will show you what I mean. Look at Ruth's response.

Apparently, you have NO IDEA of how true Conservatives feel. I DO NOT feel trapped. The only problem I have is that libs/demorats lie so much that the mob mentality believes them. YBIC

I identify with conservatives, and use the term to identify myself. If you are talking about Goldwater conservatives. But I used to vote Democrat. The reason for the change is that the quasi-socialism in the Democratic Party. It isn't that I think the government shouldn't have a safety net for the truly unfortunate, but it has gotten to the point where able bodied people aren't responsible for their actions. Many "liberal" programs have in fact produced a class of people that are dependent on the government. And it is federal law that I have to support this system of dependence. The prime example is Social Security.

But I also identify with classical liberalism. Not the new breed of social liberalism.

However, the term liberal has become a catch all phrase for left of center democrats. Pretty much the antithesis of the founding fathers. But people lump the new social liberals and classical liberals together, sometimes to conveniently put themselves in the same category and sometimes only to stress the common support of the first amendment, however that is where commonality ends. And sometimes people don't realize party lines change over time. I bet some people don't realize that Democratic Republican Party was the more liberal party compared to the Federalist Party circa Jefferson and Madison presidencies.

So yeah, sometimes I'm frustrated with choices. But no one candidate totally represents me anyway. I have to go with the best choice. This last election, I voted for a pro-life, strong military, anti-illegal immigration, pro-Bill of Rights democrat. At least that is what he said. Liberal doesn't also mean liberal and conservative doesn't also mean conservative. Ya never know what you're gonna git. Like a box a chocolates.

Wrong again.

Liberalism means big government control over our lives.

For the first time I can remember, you said something true. Bush is not a conservative.

My choice is to take my party back and it will happen.

Your Democrats have shown that they are gutless cowards. They vote for a war and then when the going gets tough, they waffle.

I'm with you. Bush acts more like a Democrat in ways. He goes to war an occupy a nation. Republicans never did that. He tries to centralize the Federal government. THe name Republicans state a greater representation by regions.

Certainly not!! And for you to take that question and use it to make this generalization is ludicrous!

That question was a repeated posting from a liberal attempting to divide the Republican party based on nonsense.

Much like this one.

Provide something besides socialism for the US to consider, and Democrats might be able to win an election based on a positive platform, rather than an anti-Bush one.

True conservatives are not confused. They do not and would not support the liberals and only support the neo-conservatives out of necessity.

America must be the only country in the world where a group of its citizens ' hate supporting Americans in need because it resembles "socialism"' .
Come to think of it, it's true. Does Katrina sound familiar?
In that case, I would 'hate' to be one of them.
And you?
