Fly with Emirates. It is a long flight and Sri Lankan just doesn't cut it, plus the layover in Colombo is boring.

Make sure the island you are staying on is rated 4 stars or better. There are 3 star islands in the Maldives and the accommodation and food is pretty awful (and you still pay and arm and a leg for it). Better to stay on Ari Atoll rather than North or South Male Atoll - the islands are nicer. It will take you longer to get to Ari (unless you take a sea plane - which I suggest - the boat ride can be bumpy and who wants to start their honeymoon with sea sickness?). It will take a couple of days just to get acclimatised, so I suggest you spend two weeks rather than just one as with the travelling and acclimatising you will not get much of a chance to relax.

Make sure when you book you let the resort know you are on your honeymoon - ask for a free upgrade to a better suite or bungalow - they will also probably have a special treat for you when you arrive (a candlelit dinner, fresh fruit and flowers, bottle of champagne, etc).
