Am I the only parent frustrated by the lack of G-rated movies/animated movies in theaters?

I'd love to take my daughter to the matinee more often but I find the animated movies that are rated PG have content that's not suitable for a 3-year old.

I like G-rated films, I wish there were more, not only for my son's sake but also for me to enjoy.

G rated movies do not make as much at the box office as PG films, so the industry has been making fewer as the risk/cost of producing and distributing movies has climbed. I've gone with a Netflix subscription, an old-fashioned popcorn popper and a big-screen TV. Not only is it cheaper than going out to the theater, you can choose from almost any kids movie ever made.

I am not a parent, but yes. There are way too many annoying rated R movies and boring PG-13 movies. And it's all for the MONEY.

I am not a parent. But the reason why there are less and less G rated movies is because today's society is changing so much and so fast. Produces look at statistics that tell them the majority of the viewing audience are not adolescents of a very young age.

When my son was little (early 80s), there were even less kids' movies than now. So I fell back on the standards from my childhood: Old Yeller, Black Beauty, Pollyanna, Where the Red Fern Grows, Sounder.

I concentratred more on reading though. He would sit as long as he was able, then get up and play, then come back for me to read some more. It really worked out for both us.

When it comes to making movies PG is the new G. That is G didn't sell well so no one will make it. If you don't like that I understand but that is how it is. As one said the G movies go straight to video now.

There are tons on DVD. Most go straight to DVD. Just hit the video store. You'll have more fun at home and it'll be cheaper.

Are you serious? You don't let her see PG. At age 5 I saw the Exorcist. Trust me she can handle PG.
