If you do not know the characters of your own story, how can you expect me to help you? Also, why would I give up characters that I know to someone write a story that I am not writing, nor have any interest in doing so?
The point is simple: authors do not need others to tell them what to write, it is already in the author's mind.
Like it or not, you're not ready to start working on a story if you only know the broad main subject of the story. Take some more time to develop the idea before you start to concern yourself with characters- need to know the environment and the people of that environment before you can start telling their stories.

Regardless of what the characters do or what part they play in your story, the important part is to give them depth.
Look around at the people you know. No one is one dimensional. Each has certain characteristics, manners, phobias and "flavor" about them. Bring out these points effectively in your story. These characteristics should not overpower the story but be an integeral part of it.
Think about the TV series "Monk". Where would the show be without his idiosyncrasies?

If that is all you know then I would forget even bothering to write the piece. Creativity comes from within, and if you have to ask others to write your piece for you, then really, it would not be yours. All you kids come here and blather on "Help me write a book, Tell me good character names, Tell me what I should write about, Tell me what a good title should be for a book I am writing, Tell me this, tell me that." Perhaps writing is not your forte'. It certainly isn't the forte' of most on here, judging from the silly little questions you all ask. I am surprised some of you can go to the bathroom without asking everyone on Yahoo what to do when you get in there! You are not a writer and you never will be, that is apparent! So do something else!

If you need help with names only, you should go to some of the baby names sites. They will give you a bunch of names from all over the world, with the meanings and origins of all the names.

I struggle with coming up with names also. So I just end up naming them after people that I know. It's easier than racking your brain. Or you could try buying a baby name book full of interesting names.

How about "Chuck Ball"?
Those top two people seem to have the same nasty attitude as each other. I wonder why some people only come on Answers to be unhelpful!
