We are going to dinner at a nice place that has live jazz. The dress code says Business Casual. If we wear nice jeans and my boyfriend wears a nice button up shirt would that be okay?

Several jeans manufacturers have created dress jeans. They usually come in black, brown, gray, and white, although black is the most common color. Any blue jeans are not considered dress jeans. Blue jeans are casual wear or work wear. Depending on the city and the region, dress jeans could be part of business casual, but don't depend on it simply because most "business casual" dress codes do not differentiate between work jeans and dress jeans.

Jeans with a nice top & jewelry for the lady & a nice shirt for the gent would be my idea of Business Casual, but to be safe I'd phone the restaurant & ask.

No.Business casual means simple dress clothes like "dockers"a button down shirt a casual sports coat is a option for a man and a simple pants suit for a woman.Jeans are only OK when the dress code is casual or none at all.

I would say probably no.
"Business Casual" in a work dress code specifically EXCLUDES JEANS. Try some khakis or slacks of some kind, or a cute skirt for you.
You might be able to get away with it at the restaurant if you have on nice shirts and shoes, but I say enjoy the excuse to get dressed up and to see your man looking all sexy.

No. I work at a 5 star restaurant that is Business Casual or better. If someone showed up to our restaurant in jeans we would turn them away. It is always better to be over dressed than under dressed.

I would say that if you have to ask, the answer is probably no. However, here's a good way to decide: think about how you would feel if you were the only person in the place that was wearing jeans. If you think that would make you uncomfortable, then jeans are out. If it wouldn't make you uncomfortable, then go for it!

Your boyfriend should also include a nice sports jacket. Your top should give a sense of of credibility with your jeans; not one which could be considered as provacative. You want to be remembered formost for your intelligence.

If you wear a turtle neck and formalish earrings it would be a more casual day at the office look.

you shouldn't wear jeans if it lists 'business' before casual. if it was dressy casual they'd be ok, but you should wear something else to this place. have fun and dress it up a bit!
