and before you all say they weren't taught, wrong, wrong, wrong, they most certainly were!

Yes, Little Miss Fickle they actually hit the door with their paw, not using their crawls and basically are knocking on the door, it's the funniest thing to watch them do!

You're lucky. My cats scratch at the carpeting until they get let into a room. The carpeting outside my daughter's room is completely shredded. I don't think I'll be getting my damage deposit back when I move.
I used to have a dog that would ring the doorbell all the time to get let back in. It got to be such a nuisance that I eventually had to disconnect the bell.

Being taught has nothing to do with it. I know for a fact that neither of my kids was born in a barn because I was there, but you wouldn't know it to see the way they behave sometimes!
As far as cats go, the one who was born and raised outdoors has better house manners than the one who was born and raised mainly indoors. So go figure!

yeah, cats learn from you. reinforcement. but i don't know what you mean by "knocking" on the door. Doesn't sound like a bad thing as ling as they don't cry and scratch, and you don't mind the "knocking". I myself had to teach my cat not to cry and scratch at the bedroom door. A vet tech suggested coins in a can. It worked.

I make the dog and both cats sit down and say please before feeding them each morning. They do it to. They don't knock on doors though. They sit there and call out to me once. If I want them to come in, I open the door, if not, they know I heard them and don't want them in.

My schnauzer has pretty good manners. The affenpinscher mix (miss silent-but-deadly) has no manners whatsoever, and can clear a crowded room in under 5 seconds.

No, my dogs are wild. I tried to teach them manners much too late and now they do pretty much whatever they want.

Aw that's so cute. It's probably because they see you wearing that thong and they want to be polite and kiss up to you
