This morning when feeding my fish (4 guppies; 3f 1m; 3 neon tetras) I noticed one of my females wasn't coming up to eat so I looked for her and found her, I thought she was dead and stuck to the filter but when I looked closer I realized she was stuck IN the filter and still alive (just the back half of her) so I recued her and she's alive and has eaten since but now her tail fin looks all pointed and 'dead'/hanging down. Should I wait it out or should I put her out of her misery?

As long as she's eating...fish can easily adapt to new challenges. Hopefully she can make use of her tail fin somehow. Make sure though that the other fish aren't bothering her.

You could do either. She may be ok after awhile of rest and adapting but sometimes fish don't. Watch her and do what you think is best. If the other fish begin to eat her and she is still alive you might want to end it and let her go. But if you see improovement and she seems to be getting better than she could be ok and just continue to watch her.

well in my 13 years of experience, my policy has always been never to put down a fish. If they are still alive and willing to fight for their life, than i will provide and help them.

BcAquatics.com which is my personal fish site, has the policy where we dont kill our fish.

Personally i have a story where i had a betta would was dead, and i brought it back to life. After 2 hours of passing water though its gills and even taking it on vaction with me.
