I have a 4 1/2 monh old baby and he's laughed since he was about 3 months. My oldest son was the same way. All babies will grow at the own pace and there is no set guideline to show whether they are ad\vanced or right on target. When they get older and start doing things that require help (such as crawling or walking) then there is a way of measuring whether he is ahead of the curve or not. Until then he's just a happy smiley baby having a good time with funny parents! ;)

My sisters baby has been giggling/laughing since she was three months old so it is probably not that rare. My daughter started full out giggling and just before four months as well. She didnt do it to often though. NOw shes 5.5 months and she giggles and laughs at least every day.

Four months is about the time my daugther started laughing (she's six months now). Its the most wonderful sound in the world to hear. Anyways, I don't believe there is any true ahead or behind in the game. Every child is different and develops at different rates. Don't believe party poopers who tell you it's only gas. What ever your child starts or doesn't start doing is normal for your child. There is no race, no competion. Enjoy your child for who he is what he does when he does it. Enjoy thoes laughs!

My daughter is 7 1/2 weeks old, and she laughed for the first time last night. Smiled at 2 weeks (It was a real smile) They all go by their own schedule.

Well... My baby laughed when she was 3 months old. So I think it's not true that infants laugh at 6 or 7 months... they also say babies smile around 2 months old, mine smiled at 1 month old (it was not gas btw...)

Congrats on your little one!

Yeah he's an early bloomer! He may have a very sunny personality! My daughter was almost five months when she first laughed and she is very sociable. Most people say she is the happiest little girl they know (she is 18 months old). Enjoy you little social butterfly!

Babies all develop at different rates. "They" say that children don't begin to smile until 4-6 months, but I know many many babies who smile around 2-3 months.

It could be gas, but it probably is laughing.

If your son starts to crawl next week, then he is ahead of the game.
