How does that funktion?
Shall some operating system be installed on exernal HDD (in case that primary disk on notebook already has Win XP?
Is it as simple, when external HDD has USB 2.0, as connecting any other device such as photo, camera, phone, USB stick/mp3 player? Or is there some differences or difficulties?

Thanks for help! ;)

The laptop will most likely recognize the drive with no problems just as it would for any usb device.

Are you intending to boot from the external drive? Not every laptop is going to be able to boot directly from an external HDD but most of the newer systems do have that option. That is to say, it certainly is possible.
