Each state requires you apply to their SS office, ask your current SS office to help you transfer your benefits for when you move.
Federal are easier since they come from the federal gov.'t and not state. State benefits need to be dealt with as soon as possbile. Applying can take weeks or months so arranging them ahead of time is best.
You can also go online and check it out at the SS website, or call them and ask them to mail you the forms and papers you need for the move. Make sure you talk to SS first and get it all worked out.

I've been on SSI since 1998, and have a mother that works for Health and Human Services. No you do not have to reapply. You do however have to transfer your benefits. You call your Social Security Administration branch in Florida and tell them that you plan to move to Georgia. They should be able to transfer your income that way, and tell you what you need to do in terms of direct deposit to the new bank if in fact you have that service.

I'm assuming you get social security disability payments and those are low, so you receive the SSI, correct? I would notify SS that you are moving to be sure your checks will follow. You might have to reapply for the SSI, but I would think any changes to your SS account would automatically change your SSI.
