Wife, 5 year old daughter and myself. We live in South Florida, and spend a week in Ocean City New Jersey every summer. We go to PA for a week every Xmas.

Not a beach vacation.
Not a cruise.
Not NJ, PA, or FL.

Thinking Alaska, Montana, Jackson Hole WY. Open to suggestions.

Definitely ALASKA!!!

"A bunch of the boys were whooping it up in the Malemute Saloon..." Robert W. Service The Shooting of Dan McGrew

The summers are no sweeter anywhere...

A motor home rental would be ideal in your scenario, all push button accessories, and camping is more like bringing your home along for the ride.

A trip to the Kenai Peninsula, for sightseeing along the Kenai Fjords, and the fishing??? Well the Kenai and Russian Rivers are world renown, and Homer for Halibut!

Perhaps a sojourn to Denali! The tallest mountain in North America (Mt. McKinley)... and Denali National Park is worth it to see the expression on your daughters face when she sees her first moose or grizzly bear, not in a zoo, but in the wild.

Lots of other options as well... A trip on the Alaska Railroad, Flight seeing, rafting, the list is endless.

And don't discount a cruise to Alaska. It is unlike anywhere in the world; mountains, glaciers, whales, seals, did I mention the glaciers? More than half the world's glaciers are in Alaska (Glacier Bay National Park as an example). The Native culture of our Southeast Alaska Indians (The Totem Pole Carvers).

I think your getting the idea. There are a lot of web sites I have listed (YIKES!), search each one (a lot of pictures to look at, and no there are no duplicate sites). They will give you some great ideas to help the thought process...

Welcome to Alaska!

If you really want to find the best place to visit. I'd suggest the place I grew up at. South East Washington (State). It's so beautiful! They offer resorts on the river, boat rides, museums, Indian reservation, beautiful mountains with roads that are easy to access and great places to picnic. The views are so beautiful you won't wan to leave. They also have jazz festivals, concerts for every music lover and year round farmers markets. Horse back riding and anything else I'm sure you can think of. The Snake river runs right through my hometown and I wish I was there now. We are part of what you might call the Military Relocation Program and are enjoying Germany at the moment. The people in my home town are so sweet, a lot of our visitors end up moving there. It's that awesome!
Good luck!
Michelle

P.S. if you want a map or the name of the town I will give it to you in an email. silvercrown40@gmail.com
