What do I need to do to make it recognised internationally as an independent state ?

First you need land that you can make Soveriegn. If you try it in the US you are going to die or go to jail. If you bargain with some African country you might get some land to call independent. Whoever the land belonged to is the first country you need to recognize you otherwise you have a long battle on your hands. You then need to create a constitution and tax system. When you print your own money you must make it legal tender for paying taxes so the people will accept it. Do not turn to the IMF to borrow cash you can print yourself. Also, you have to make the cash legal for all debts and not allow foriegn currency to be spent in your land. This will being to develop a natural exchange rate or you can peg an exchange rate and see what happens. Its loads of work and you need to hire an economist I think. Whatever you do, don't allow the International Money Changers to print your cash or loan you money. Stay away from sealand, its not recognized as independant.

Good question. Lets say you are worth billions, you buy an Island, you contact the leauge of nations and apply for country status and they accept. You now have a country. Now you must have a government. Do you want to rule yourself or is this going to be a free country. Oh, a free country. get some people to your country, let them vote for a leader among two factions, they vote and faction green wins. They set up their chosen government and vote to kick you out of what was once your country. Now you have to start all over so you take billions more, buy some bombs and hire some hoods to fight, and you take over again and this time you declare yourself King. You have a new country and you are the King. G. Bush decides that ain't right and we, the US envades your country and locks you up. What an ending for you. That will teach you to want your own country.

Many years ago..
The people who live on the Florida Keys figured they was getting a raw deal from the USA.
They declared themselves an independent nation,they even gave their 'new' country a name, declared war on the US, surrendered immediately and asked for international aid from the US.
I wish I could remember more of this story..it is quite intriguing.

Get a flag plan it on a hill and declare the hill independent (always take the high ground - easier to defend). Then you need to start recruitment for your army to defend your hill. Then slowly start to take over the countryside one field at a time. as this may piss off the former ruler of the hill it may be an idea to buy a nuke cheap from Russia.

Well you'd have to build a rocket and launch yourself to Mars because that is the only undeclared land that you'll be able to find. It's either that or build your own army to conquer some land of your own on Earth or try and buy a country of your own.

There is one thing for certain you will not achieve your goal through negotiation or the ballot box. It can only come about by overthrowing those who are in control at the present time.
They only give the crumbs off the plate, look at Scotland and Wales as one example and then look at the Irish Republic and their history and I am sure you will understand the situation.

First of all, you must form an army. Then you whip the army into shape so you can invade a foreign land.
Once you've occupied the land, you give it a name.

The USA didn't "recognise" the USSR for many many years. (mostly because the new regime didn't service the old Russian debts to the USA).
However they had to defacto recognise USSR coming up to World War 2... as you can't ignore reality.

research your family history find out where your ancestors come from tell the world it is your god given right to own that bit of land(if its in the middle east you will get backing from usa) move there with lots of weapens and kick the peolpe that currently live there out.
