owell... you use an abstract mostly in science fair projects and stuff.. its like when you write down what you're going to do in a few words. its like a report but NOT a report.. a report may require like a few pages but abstracts are usually 1 page long.. i do it all the time! heheh.. just write down about these things (in order)

1)date
2) title
3) problem
4) hypothesis
5) materials
6) procedure
7) data and observations
8) analysis and conclusion

DONE!! gud luck! :)

An abstract in any field is just a summary. In a science project it should include the following:

Motivation: Why do we care about the problem and the results?

Problem statement: What problem are you trying to solve? What is the scope of your work (a generalized approach, or for a specific situation)?

Approach: How did you go about solving or making progress on the problem? What important variables did you control, ignore, or measure?

Results: What's the answer?

Conclusions: What are the implications of your answer? Are your results general, potentially generalizable, or specific to a particular case?

Here are the elements for the extract:

1. In as broad of terms as possible, describe the situation or problem that this experiment addresses.

2. Explain why this is a problem.

3. Describe what remedies have been tried and failed or what remedies are currently in place but are less than satisfactory.

4. Explain your experiment.

5. Describe the results.

Not sure about science but in research papers the abstract is a brief overview of the study.
