It's like asking why women don't wear one-piece bikinis anymore. You're not really saying that no woman wears them anymore; you just don't see as many women wearing them.
In the case of bowties, they are a very formal way of dressing up. And very traditional. Present men don't really feel the formality in events anymore.
But again, you know that somewhere out there, there are still some men who wear them, keeping in touch with tradition and what formality originally was.

Its style changing bow ties are out, ties are in.
Its got to do with the generation

i like ties better.
i only like bowties in some occasions.
