It's basically a copy of the Japanese film "Infernal Affairs."
I don't think remakes should ever win, no matter how good it is.

They had the wrong info at the Oscars, it's a remake of a Hong Kong (Chinese) movie. It's strange that Americans often like to specify to certain country even when the origin is unsure. Why not say "it's a remake of an Asian movie" to avoid making mistakes?
"Best picture" is "best picture", meaning the best one. Remake just means that the source was from a movie. Lots of best pictures were from novels, so why not?
As per Director, I think it's a bit of cheating since he has already watched the original.

I watched that movie and I liked it a lot. I don't know if it's Best Picture worthy, though.

i thought it was a good movie, except there were a few parts that were confusing to start..
