While technically "bare feet" is correct and "barefeet" isn't, there is a sense in which one might use them as if they almost meant quite different things entirely. It's a bit like the difference between animals and Animals in *Wicked*. Ask a dedicated barefooter or foot-tickler and one will probably find that such a person likely views bare feet and barefeet as having a distinct difference between them.
