Those are all really good questions to be asking, and I don't think there is enough space here to adequately answer each of them. But a quck run through is: pill must be taken everyday (but the 7 pills at the end of each pack do not contain hormones and therefore do not have to be taken if you don't want to and this is when you get your period), If you forget to take 1 day, just take it as soon as you remember but anymore than that it gets tricky, some pills can be taken while breastfeeding others cannot. Condoms are a better bet if you aren't going to be able to take the pills religiously b/c missing 2 days of the pill in a row can allow you to become pregnant so to be safe using a condom anyway wouldn't be a bad idea!

Here are some websites that might help.
This site give really good info on a popular brand of pill (Ortho Tri Cyclen) although the medical information provided should carry over to any other birth control pill as well.

This site gives information on common misconceptions or beliefs about the pill, as well as other info:

Anything you ever wanted to know about birthcontrol should be answered in one of the questions on those sites! Best Wishes!

I would use more then one form if your want to be safer. Yes you take a pill everyday.

If you miss a day , you could open the window to become pregnant. If you take an antibiotic it lessens the effect of the pill or shot. I believe you can take the pill when breast feeding but you have to take it at the same time everyday. I'm not sure if they still feel this is OK or not.

If you are one to forget meds, I would take the shot it lasts 3 months.

EDIT:

Birth control is not frowned down by any church but the catholic one...... I was raised catholic, the catholic that posted is just nuts.......If you ovulate more then one time a month like some women ( me ) The rythum method wont work.....

If the Catholic church is the Church to make all choices like she expressed all men would be having sex with the little boys in the neighborhood. like the Catholic priests do. The Catholics are the most hypocritical of most religions in my eyes. She needs to get real. Not everyone is Catholic or would even want to be. My parents abused us kids behind closed doors then went to confession. And acted all holly OH PLZ

Their are good Catholics im sure But I just dont know any personally. I left the church as soon as I left my parents home.

You take the pill every day. If you forget a day you run a chance of getting pregnant. Yes, it crosses into breast milk so ask your doctor about that. The pill is not 100% but fairly close if taken properly. Not everyone can take the pill, some ppl have bad problems with it. The pill will also not help protect from diseases.

There are really a TON of birthcontrol options out there... and you should talk to your doctor about which choices would be best for you. The Pill is generally taken every single day and is NOT suggested during breastfeeding because of the estrogen in it... however there are options out there that do not inculde estrogen, such as the Depo Provera Shot (a shot given once every 3-4 months by your doctor) that are safe to take while breastfeeding.

Obviously the condom has to be used every time you have sexual intercourse and a spermicide should be used with it... the condom is NOT as reliable as most hormonal birthcontrol methods (like the pill and the depo shot).

There's other things out there tho too... the IUD, the ring, the patch, the diaphram.... those are just a FEW options... so really... talk with your healthcare provider about what would be BEST for you in your situation, they can lead you in the best direction.

For birth control the pills are best. The condoms are best to keep the STDs down.

I'm a "rubber baby" as my mother called me. In fact, I'm a rubber twin. Don't use condoms as a means of birth control.

If you are married to a virgin, which you should be or he is immoral, you do not need it. If you are dating, then why are you having sex? If you are dating and he really loves and wants you, he will marry you before you guys have sex. If you are married and want to prevent from getting pregnant, use the rhythm method. Not only is birth control wrong (against God), it is against the Catholic Church.
