There's already an HPV / cervical cancer vaccine.

Most health "reasons" are unfounded and when you compare overall statistics, just don't make sense.

For example, the US HAS THE HIGHEST HIV / AIDS RATE in the developed world. We also have the highest circumcision rate in the developed world. Europe, and most of Latin America and Japan, all which don't circumcise, have lower rates.

The same goes for cancer. If circumcision really reduced cancer, there wouldn't be European countries with lower cancer rates than us. The American Cancer Society came to the conclusion that the claim that the removal of the foreskin reduces cancer to be wrong.

It's mostly just cultural brainwashing into thinking that it's better. America is really slow in personal research. You have to really think if something is wrong if a doctor gets paid $200 - $400 to strap down a baby boy and cut something off. We're one of the few developed nations left that does it. (80 or so percent of the world's guys are uncut) Circumcision got popular when they claimed that it prevented masturbation (since there's no moist foreskin to rub the penile head, you have to learn to stroke it to discover masturbation; the foreskin is the same skin as your eyelid is).

As for hygiene, that shouldn't be a problem. All mammals get smegma, but uncut guys shouldn't get it unless they take like two weeks without showering. I've never had it; it only takes less than fives seconds to slide it back and wash. No biggy, and it feels good to rub the head. You take longer to wash just about everything else.

An uncircumcised penis when erect looks almost the same as a circumcised one when erect. The only difference is that during intercourse and and masturbation you can slide the skin up and down to rub the head with without lubricant; it's called the gliding mechanism. Women tend to say they prefer what they're used to (they'd say cut in the US and uncut in Europe) but in the end, they're similar and most end up satisfied with whatever they have; providing they aren't shallow. They both provide pleasure.

Studies show that uncut and cut guys last about the same in sex. In this study, uncut guys last just a few seconds less, but I don't know about you; but I'd rather be more sensitive during those six minutes of intercourse if the difference is only a few seconds.

Religion: It is an insult to God to say he made a big mistake when he designed men, and we have to correct it for him because we're wiser than he is.

Hygiene: Warm water. Soap maybe. Nothing more needed.

AIDS: Maybe this is a reason to chop men in Africa where AIDS is mostly transmitted by heterosexual intercouse and condoms are a cultural taboo. It's not going to help in the US, where dirty needles and homosexual sex account for almost all AIDS cases. Condoms work much better than circumcision, and they should be teaching those guys in Africa to wear them instead of mutilating their penises.

Girls like it better: Maybe some young girls do, but 90% of women prefer intact men -- just how long are you going to be having sex with 14-year-old girls anyway? http://www.healthcentral.com/drdean/408/60750.html

He needs to look like his father: Sick! Is his father going to be comparing penises with his son? That's probably good enough reason to put the kid in foster care!

The other boys will laugh at him if he's not cut: Guess what, chances are nowadays that the other boys haven't been cut either. And kids can always find some differences to tease other kids; it's part of growing up.

American women sometimes go on about what great lovers Frenchmen, Spaniards, or other European men are. Circumcision rates in Europe range from under 2% to about 5%. There is a connection between these two facts. And European women have much lower rates of cervical cancer than American women. Another bogus argument doesn't hold up.

In short, the only reasons to remove the foreskin are ignorance, sadism, and a few VERY rare medical conditions - not phimosis, which can be treated non-sugically.

There's no reason to do it. Arguments for hygiene and the like are bull. The minimal possible things like given above for crap like a slight reduction in UTIs or female-to-male HIV transmission (if you believe those studies, which personally I think are flawed) definitely do not outweigh the risks of circumcision particularly on a newborn so there is no reason for it. It's also painful and cruel.

Some people decide to get circumsised because it helps to maintain the penis area cleaner. Doctors have not found that a circumcised penis can be keep cleaner than a non-circumcised. Men who were not circumcised can also prevent an infection and maintain their penis clean by washing it corectly by pulling the forskin back softly while bathing or taking a shower.

Well, I feel inclined to agree with you. There really isn't any reason for anyone to be circumcised, unless it's for religious or health reasons (infection or non-retracting foreskin). Apparently, circumcised men are less likely to contract HIV/AIDS, but circumcision doesn't protect you completely from becoming infected. I'm uncircumcised and quite happy with the way I am.

In the New York Times this morning on the internet, there is an article that says they just did a test in Kenya and Uganda, and they had to stop early because their studies showed that the aids risk was cut by 65%, and it was unfair to continue because the others that helped the test, the people in those countries that weren't Circumcised were at a great disadvantage.

If it's tight, it should probably be removed, but that can be fixed with stretching. I had a hypospadius, so mine was removed as a child... *pout*.

Some people feel it is easier to clean the penis without a foreskin.
