im havin my first gig with a band, but we have no microphones/pa systems. what would we need? its 4 about 50 people

you will need mic's stands, mixer, amps & speakers.
For a simple set-up use a vocal mic and mic up your combo's - probably won't need to mic drums in a small venue (dynamic vocal mics are fine for mic'ing up your guitar combos) - take someone with you to just control the PA, but practice with the kit first so you can get used to controlling feedback (keep the mic's away from the PA speakers)
Try a place that hires out PA and take a small system on hire for a couple of days. they will know what you need and will be able to help out. Try googling for PA hire in your local area - good luck!

A couple of Crown AC300s a pair of Altec Voice of the Theaters a 16 channel board, 8 or 20 mics with cable stands for the mics monitors for each singer and the drummer, and someone to run the thing.
Don't you know if the venue has a house PA?
