Have you ever said something incredibly stupid (maybe because you were nervous or just not thinking) that you wished you could take it back right after saying it? If so, what did you say and how did others react?

I worked for a company that subcontracted small jobs out to a nearby company which I often made deliveries to. One day I stopped and although 2 cars were in the parking lot the doors were locked but I recognized the cars as the owners and a secretaries . So not being able to get an answer when I knocked I went back to my company and was talking with a young kid who had just started and was becoming friends with . I told him about not being able to make the delivery and exclaimed that the owner must be having sex with the secretary . He then told me the secretary was his mother ! I felt about 2 inches tall and could have crawled under a rock at that point , fortunately he was a good natured kid and laughed it off , though I apologized profusely none the less . Fortunately also it had just been the 2 of us and no one else was around to make it even further embarrassing . I put my foot in my mouth big time and felt terrible as well I should have I suppose , I had no idea what so ever his mom was the secretary . Though my story was likely true because this guy had a thing about dating the help and I had walked in on him in a comprising situation before .

Everyone has done this. I won't repeat what I said because it was embarrassing. I was very nervous and what I meant to say came out not at all like I intended. It caused immediate silence and I politely excused myself from the room.

Don't worry others will forget. You will be the only one that turns red at the thought of it 15 years later!

Oh, yeah. All the time. I remember last year I said something really stupid to one of my favorite teachers. I tried to come up with a joke or something and I ended up saying something about janitors at McDonalds. I wasn't just stupid, it was kinda rude too. I still feel dumb thinking about it. My teacher just kind of walked away.

Of course, in one conversation that included 4 or 5 people, I pronounced geography as geo--graphy, my best friends grandmother(about 88 years old) immediately corrected me. I turned about 3 shades of red.

Once I was watching a movie with a boyfriend and the first part of the intro where the little boy is fishing (part of the Dreamworks compilation) came on and I said... I think I've seen this movie before.

Smart moment.

I told my boss during an interview that I wanted to be an English/Lit. major. Then two seconds later I was slurring my words from talking too fast and saying things like, "the more busier you look, the better you seem as a employee...."

Are you kidding me? and I still got hired?

Yes, it happens if I heard the other person's statement before I really processed what they were trying to mean by it....then I 'll be like , ''oh...heheeheh, I thought you were talking about something else." and get the hell outta there.
