If this were just a celebrity death, and a public celebrity meltdown, would the public be as enthralled as it has been thus far?

i think so even if they didn't have kids just because of their celebrity status. To the media them having kids makes this more sensational and juicy because people enjoy seeing them fall from greatness.

Well, I think that people would still care about Britney because, come on, she's darned Britney Spears and she shaved her head!!! Some people live for this stuff, and the media is all over it whether people care or not. The Anna Nicole story however is more interesting because of her child's custody and everything, so I don't know how interesting it would be to people if it was just a celebrity death. That's a good question, though, and nobody can really give a definite answer.

I think the Anna Nicole story would have not been nearly as popular since the media circus is mainly concerning who the childs father is and if Daniel had not been buried in the Bahamas there wouldn't be a huge fight over where to bury her. The Britney stories though I think would still be eveywhere, things like shaving her head beating reporters cars with umbrellas and her turbulent love life are just as ridiculous without involving the kids.

The Anna Nicole story would be interesting whether kids were involved or not. The Britney Spears one I don't think so. With what is going on about Anna Nicole, makes me glad I'm not famous. The poor (hypothetically speaking) womans body is sitting and rotting while everyone is arguing over ignorance.

That's a good question.I don't really know.

What's really pathetic about both of these stories is the importance the media has given them.

Being a topic here is one thing, but for CNN and Fox to have live coverage of the hearing in Florida and for Britney's latest freakazoid meltdown as the top story this morning is utterly ridiculous.

Britney's probably would still be as captivating to the public, because she is younger and the public has basically watched her crumble before our eyes. We have seen her grow up, in a way. Anna Nicole has been surrounded by drama and controversy since she came onto the scene. If it weren't for the death of her son, and the existence of her daughter, people would have forgotten about it by now.

I don't think the fact that kids are involved enhances the public's interest, although with Anna, the thought of that sweet little girl in the middle of such a fiasco sure brings it home...but, if their wasn't a Dannilynn, I do believe this story would have faded away already, anytime someone dies, it's sad, ut with this story it makes it even sadder...

Absolutely. Look at the train wreck the Anna Nicole show became. We Americans love our white-trash. We sit on our Big-Mac-plumped derrieres and marvel and what messes others have made of their lives, which makes us feel better about our own mistakes and short-comings.

Who wants to stagnate in from of the tube watching families enjoying Sunday dinners and board games while discussing Junior's plans for college? Give us a heartbreak, drama, drug addiction, and loose morals!

People are interested in celebrities whether children are involved or not.Look at Paris Hilton and Nichole Ritchie. They do not have children and they get alot of attention. People are interested in celebrities b/c they have achieved what we have not And when they fall from"grace" we feel like we too have fallen,at least at the moment.

no actually not because like if Anna Nicole's son didn't die then Anna Nicole's death wouldn't have be as interesting. and plus people haven't figured out Dannylin's father yet, and plus Britney's kids are in some trouble, because like they aren't sure if her kids are going ot K-Fed or Britney soo yeah it wouldn't have been as interesting.
