because our public school systems are so bad. The "no kid left behind" policy just made the standards drop and all the kids dumber not to mention the text books being messed with to construe how things really are. You should read and compair history books from a hundred years ago to history books made in the past 50 years, HUGE difference in stories.

it is the ME society, everyone s out for themselves without a care to how their actions will affect others. They feel they can say and act how they want and never be held accountable. The people who are ignorant feel they have learned everything they need to and close their minds off to everything and everyone else. If people would be more open minded and forgiving of others differences, handicaps, maybe forgiving isn't the right word maybe if they would just learn to except.

As a general rule, I don't think people are MORE ignorant these days then they were in the past. There have always been a lot of ignorant people. I just hink they are speaking up more these days.

Because very few people will take responsibility for their own actions or words, blame someone else, or just never take the time to gain some knowledge and common sense.

because that damn dr spock (not the vulcan) told parents saying no would damage children. we need to go back to corporal punishment. i had to be polite and do my school work. my parents taught me to respect others cultures and rights, to honor the elders, and to be a kind compassionate human being. perhaps the tv shouldn't be a babysitter either. kids learn by example so we need to realize the example we're setting.

I had to laugh at your additional comments. Now to answer your question, people are getting meaner each generation, with being mean they are also more ignorant. That is why I don't bother with many people anymore. =)
