The symol appears often when you simulataneously hold 2-4 notes for a period of time. It's a Squiggly line to the left of it. But then sometimes the squiggly line stretches out from the base to the treble sepereating a group of notes. What does it mean and do you understand the symbol i'm describing?

It's a wavy simple vertical line that is seen directly to the left of simulataneously pressed notes occasionally

I'm having a difficult time picturing what you're describing. I used to play piano, but haven't for many years.
