I just watch some thing on TV late last night after a great night of drinking(might be the problem). It was about the Apollo program seeing UFO's on the way to the moon, the UFO's watching them on the moon, and bases on the farside of the moon??? Has anyone hear ever heard of something like that. That pictures, but of course they were fuzzy, and really inconculsive. But the pictures from the far side and how certain spots were air brushed out was interesting. People saying how they air brushed these images out. Plus I was drunk and was thinking if you were standing on the moon, would you be able to really start making out the planets, like there colors and the image would appear bigger. Sorry for rambling on. Thanks

Here is the exact discussion by the Apollo 11 astronauts regarding a "UFO" sighting just as the trans-lunar-injection burn that would propel them from earth orbit outward to the Moon was about to begin:

Collins: Flashes outs window #5 .. Look out the window. (Laughing) If it looks like what I see out window #5, you don't want to look at it.

Armstrong: Oh, I see a little flashing out there, yes.

Aldrin: Yes, yes. Damn! Everything's just kind of sparks flying out there.

Why Collins jokingly said to his crewmates, "you don't want to look at it," can only be intrpreted to mean that he worried that, if they did look and saw what he saw, they all might feel it necessary to report they had seen a [UFO]. And reporting anything that sounded like a UFO was not something that the astronauts wanted to do [as it would only cause skepticism and ridicule and detract from the historic mission they were on].

No more drugs man :o) The answer to the moon. Planets would appear a little more clear on the moon, yes. The reason is that you wouldn't have as much background light that you would on Earth. It wouldn't be like you could see them close up by any means though. The planets are all very very far away, so they will still be tiny points off in the distance. I've seen a lot of UFO specials before, and part of the one you're talkign about. The images are so fuzzy it is really impossible to say its a UFO. Keep in mind there is space junk up there (small pieces of man made crap that have fallen off of satellites or other man made items), mini-meteorites, or even just dust floating around. And keep in mind they are all going VERY fast by being in orbit, so they will look very weird on camera. As for brushing out moon bases, I mean thats a matter of conspiracy theories. I don't believe that the government would cover that sort of thing up, but if the nature of it was to hide the base it would be impossible to for sure.

Funny you asked that question. I was talking to Harrison Schmitt (Apollo 17) about 20 years ago and I asked him the same thing. He said none of the astronauts of that era ever saw anything that couldn't be explained. Like once they saw all these tiny tiny glowing "UFO" flying all around their capsule. They were startled for a minute and then realized they had just dumped their urine and they were seeing frozen urine crystals. They used their thrusters to get away from them.

I also would suggest reducing your alcohol intake somewhat. Put the money you save into a telescope. Seeing Jupiter for real is so cool.

I think the key phrase here is "...after a great night of drinking..."
