They shout "God bless America" while celebrating the very people who tried to tear America in half...

Your thoughts please.

DUDE (below) - I didn't ask anything about slavery... Thanks for not answering my question about the hypocrisy of those claiming to "love" a country. (Try again)

DUDE (below) My first "dude" is actually addressed to "b" who started his statement with the word "DUDE". Anyway, although I appreciate your reasoning, you are comparing apples to oranges. Mexico was never a part of the union. We had a war with them. They did not commit treason. The USA won the revolution against the UK so they can not inforce any lawas against the USA such as treason if they wanted to. The conferate south tried to impose their will on the US government through military force. They committed treason via a failed coup.

No, usually they are simpletons who don't understand history.

But yes, the flag represents treason and immorality.

Treason is obvious, they are immoral because they fought a war to preserve slavery.

They try to say it was about states rights, but no other right was at issue.

Do American flag waivers hate the UK? I sing America the Beautiful in public here (edit: in the UK), and people don't call me traitor.

edit:
They may love their country, but also be proud of their ancestors. Just like every other hyphenated American, they are Southern Americans.

I don't understand if the comments addressed to "DUDE" had anything to do with my answer. I waive an American flag, which is a rebel flag in the UK. (So are Welsh and Scottish flags to a degree). I don't waive a Southern flag because my ancestors fought for the North.

We all came from the same ancestor (whether Eve or Lucy) originally, but some can't trace back that far, so we find somewhere along our history to call our ethnic group. And if they want it to be Southerner, well, that's their business not mine.

My ancestors in order to preserve the Union as far as I know (I have their registration plates but not their reason for enlisting), just as my ancestors who fought in WWII fought for the free world, and not just against the holocaust (which they didn't know about until after the war).

Are Mexican Americans who celebrate Cinco de Mayo traitors? I mean, remember the Alamo, right? No, let people celebrate their heritage. Southerner is not just a political identity, it's a culture. They got their own food, their own accent, and gosh darnit, their own economy

I am not a Southerner, but I recognize the Confederate flag as an American flag. There are millions of Americans whose ancestors fought and died under that flag. Do you think that they should be ashamed?

We declared our independence from England in 1776, and fought a war over it. Do you think that England should be offended by our flag?

In this country, Confederate veterans are honored, as are the veterans of the Union. They are both Americans.

Well, people thinks they are right in everything without paying attention to their ignorance! We have to ignore and isolate them instead of making a fuss about it so they see that no one will support their stupid idea!

It is not about the USA.
