I have a few conflicting sources, one saying it came out in 1986 and the other saying it was only just released in 2004.
Bottom line, did this song play on the radio back in the nineties?

So there was a song by Cameo in the 1986, and then Korn did a remake in 2004 with the same singer? Is that right?

"Word Up!" by nu-metal artist Korn is a cover of a 1986 song by the R&B group Cameo, also sung by the British singer and former Spice Girl Melanie B . Word Up! was the first track featured on Korn's 2004 studio compilation Greatest Hits, Volume 1 and was one of two new tracks along with Pink Floyd's Another Brick in the Wall that was exclusive to the album (the single also featured a live performance of the latter). It received heavy airplay on rock radio at it's time of release, peaking in the top 20 of both charts, and made a respectable impression on the mainstream charts of other countries, including Australia (where it debuted at number 38), and Germany (number 47).
