Depends on what they are running for. For most political offices, I wouldn't care. For School Board, or any other position involving children, I would not want them in that position.
Sorry if you don't like that answer, but I don't want anyone who has deviated from the "norms" to be in a position that makes decisions about my children. If you want to deviate from society, do so on your own time, and far away from my children. When my children are grown adults, they can make intelligent decisions about what they choose in life. Others, should not be allowed near children.

It must not matter to conservatives. Although not openly gay like Barney Frank, there are far more gay Republicans in Congress than Democrats.
Does anyone really think Mark Foley was the only one? LMAO. Thank goodness the Democrats and the media left it alone. The careers of several conservatives would have been ruined.

I used to vote Republican before the Neocon mentality took over. I would would examine the issue a bit. I think if he were one to push homosexuality on the public, I would not vote for him, but if this person were just a homosexual and not pushy on the subject (even Richard Simmons is agains pushing homosexuality on the populous by the way) I dont think it would matter.

No, but I am not really a Republican. If a guy(girl) is qualified, and will hold to conservative principles(limited gov't., states rights trumping the fed, no redistribution of income, etc), then I have no problem with them being gay.

Wouldn't bother me. I have several gay friends who are extremely intelligent, and follow politics a great deal. Some even side to the right!

I could care less. Being gay is being gay. If we had a gay man who was a clone of Reagan, sign me up

You would think it would matter, since conservatives are against the gay lifestyle.

Being gay has nothing to do with a person's qualifications to hold public office.

No as long as he is fiscally conservative. You need to seperate social conservatives from true fiscal conservatives.
