It depends on color, cut, clarity and size. Some diamond chips or very small cloudy diamonds are very inexpensive. There are some really high grade synthetic diamonds called moisenitte sp? they are less expensive.

Diamonds can range in price and in quality and in size. If you are wanting to buy a diamond ring for your engagement take your time to be able to save up to get her a nice quality ring. After all it is some thing that is for a life time, and it shows your love for your future wife to be. Some mothers at some point when they are older and if their husband has passed away or if they are divorced will pass the ring on to their daughter.

My mother passed her diamond ring on to me about 6 years ago, as she wanted me to have it. Every time I look at the ring I'm reminded of her, she passed away Nov. of 2004. It is the one thing that reminds me of both my mom and my dad. I know that some day I will pass the ring on to my daughter to have. Who knows maybe she will have a daughter to also pass it on to.

So yes they can be expensive but worth it as well. Save up to be able to get a really beautiful one that your future wife will treasure, every time that you see it on her finger you will feel proud that you took the time to do it right.

Good luck to you with what ever you do! Do go to a good jewler, do not buy from some one off the internet or from the newspaper, you want a new one, for your new life together if you are planning on getting married. Plus you don't want to get taken. Your future wife may want to get it insured and if it comes up a fake it will make you look terrible.

Sorry, that's much too broad a question. This can depend on 1.where you buy them: pawn shop or upper end store. 2. how big are they: tiny chip or the Star of Africa. 3: quality: many imperfections or completely flawless.

I like diamonds, but my best friend is my husband. :)
