Has anyone dealt with this and what did you do to help yourself feel better. I am so tired of feeling sad.

First, if your not taking medication go see a counselor and ask for a referral for meds. Try BOTH, one does not work well without the other in many cases. Secondly, Although many believe depression has control over us, it does not. It has control because we allow it to. For some, resolving conflict will release us from depression, for others the chemical deficiency in our brain make the depression more difficult to live with. Decide that no matter the cause you will not let the depression control you, rather you will control it. What this means is, it is OK to feel depressed you just decide when you will let it consume you and for how long. For instance "I will allow myself to be consumed by my grief for today, but tomorrow, ALTHOUGH I still feel depressed, I will no longer let it consume me". So....what do you do after you allotted depression time is up? Exercise (good for mind and body), walking, bicycling, swimming, anything you enjoy, call someone, go to a funny movie, do anything that distracts you from feeling sad. Combine these activities with a more long term resolution, especially if there is a chemical deficiency, medication along with activity and counseling will greatly help, if not, look for what needs to be changed or decluttered in your life and declutter. Start with making a list of things that need to be different in your life and work down it one day at a time, its OK if it takes longer than a day to work through one thing on the list. Cross off items as you complete them (then you can always look back at your progress). A suggestion, start with something simple like cleaning out your car or one room at a time in your home (depending how messy), if you can, redecorate. Most importantly, ask others to help you make and achieve your list of goals. Lastly, pray. Whether you believe in God or not, if you had the right to take your life then you would have been able to chose to be born. It is not your time to die, if it were, you would not be asking for help.

I just kept imagining myself not being around the ones that I love and thought about how they would feel....I put all of the superficial problems out of my head...things that wouldn't make a bit of difference.......my reasons for living have become # 1 I'm alive and breathing, my time isn't up yet, #2 Family is the most important thing we have while were here...day by day, I try to outweigh the bad with the good.....
I also let family members know just exactly how I was feeling...you'll be amazed the people who would really help you if they only knew your true thoughts...even when you think no one really cares.....

Almost everyone deals with depression in their lives, especially in the teen years. It is more common than uncommon. If you are having suicidal thoughts, then you need to seek professional help because that is not good. It is not embarrassing or a defeat to get outside help if you have a problem, a lot of people do it.

If you are feeling suicidal, then i suggest you go to a regular hospital they should be able to help pull you out of your depression.
