I really want to be a model and I want to take classes to be prepared and I have been thinking I should go to John robert powers cuz they have modeling classes but I don't know the requirement for getting into thoses classes. And I'm going there to check it out and see if they will accept me. But I heard all over the internet that it's a scam. If I go there for the first time to see if they will accept me into the classes will they give me an interview or ask qusetions on why i want to be a model. I need help from people that have actually gone there.

Aj has it correct. I am a guy, but I have sent a couple of daughters there and it is a lot of money and it is more of an etiquette school and how she describes it.

If you want some idea of how others view JRP do a search on yahoo answers. There are a lot of people here who have had some experience with them.

JRP can give you some lessons on how to carry yourself well and some idea of what to expect if you want to work as a model. They are not a modeling or talent agency but a school so they will not get you work and they massively overpice their photos and makeup services.

As long as you walk through the door willing to spend lots of money they will take you.

IMO you'd be better off taking some movement classes, make up classes and offering to do trade for print work.

Best of luck

Barbizon and John Robert Powers are SCAMS! Go to bbb.org to read about them.

Neither of them are modeling agencies. Legitimate Modeling agencies do NOT charge you to become a model.

Legitimate modeling agencies, train you for free. They make money once you, as a model, books modeling assignments.

The Modeling Industry in the United States is ONLY located in New York City. Model requirments are: 5'9" tall and 125 pounds.

Its not a "scam" because some people do land gigs through their agency...often very small gigs. However, it is always best to join an agency that doesn not require you to pay anything up front! (Obviously you'll have to shell out teh dough for headshots before joining an agency, but they shouldn't require any kind of fee for you to be represented by their agency.) I've found that JRP is such a large agency constantly recruiting talent that you may be better off in a smaller, more eexclusive agency that will be able to find you work.

What you need to do is put your web address or email address on your car's back window. This way, if someone in the biz sees you and likes you, they'll know how to reach you and know that you are interested in modeling, etc.
