Depends on how much you want to spend.

The value resorts are the least expensive, but also are more popular for young kids and groups. The resort can be noisy and the rooms are a little small.

For a larger room, and a resort that is a little more quiet, I would go for a moderate. You get the extra space, a few extra little things and there are usually fewer kids.

The deluxes are more expensive, but offer more benefits right at the resorts, such as more dining options, and better transportation (except for Animal Kingdom) Each of the deluxe resorts offers a benefit, Wilderness and Animal Kingdom are the least expensive, Boardwalk and Yacht and Beach Club have boat transportation and you can walk to EPCOT. Then Polynesian, Contemporary and Grand Floridian are the most expensive but have the monorail. Of course, these are just a few of the benefits.

You also have your villas and then the Wilderness Cabins. This is if you are wanting more space and/or a kitchen.

All the Disney resorts are great and they each have their own benefits, it just depends on which offers the most to you and which is in your price range.

For older kids, I would go with Pop Century for a value. The resort is newer and the bus transportation is a little better, it also seems to be more popular for adults. For a moderate, they are all great, I think it kind of depends on what you like best. Coronado is more like a deluxe resort (just not as many benefits) Caribbean Beach has great themeing, is a huge resort, etc. Port Orleans is a little smaller property and also offers the boat transportation. Deluxe, they are all great, I kind of prefer Wilderness over Animal Kingdom, because of the location. I like Boarwalk and Yacht and Beach Club pretty much equally. I personally like Polynesian and Grand Floridian the best of the monorail hotels. All the Villas are really great. I spend a lot of time at Downtown Disney, so I like being at Saratoga because of how close it is.

I hope this gives you some answers. If you have any other questions, please e-mail me, I go to Disney all the time and love to help!

I have stayed at Disney's Polynesian Resort the past two summers. I don't think I ever want to stay at any of the other Resorts. Disney's Polynesian Resort is perfect! It is an original! It opened when Walt Disney World officially opened on October 1, 1971, along with Disney's Contemporary Resort. It's most recent refurbishment was just barely completed, so all of the rooms have new furniture, light fixtures, bedding, large flat screen TVs, etc. The rooms are absolutely gorgeous, as is the entire Resort! Many of the rooms offer wonderful views of Disney's Grand Floridian Resort, Cinderella Castle, Space Mountain, and Disney's Contemporary Resort across the Seven Seas Lagoon. The best part of our vacations were coming back to our rooms late in the evening, sitting out on our patio, enjoying the warmth and the beautiful view, everything all lit up, and listening to the sounds of the ferries and boats transporting Guests between the Resorts and the Magic Kingdom, and the howl of the stone dog outside of the Haunted Mansion (yes, you can here it all the way across the Lagoon). You can watch the fireworks right from your room and patio, too, and the Electrical Water Pageant. The Resort has a wonderful white-sand beach with palm trees and hammocks. There's two awesome pools. The Nanea Volcano Pool with a waterslide and bathrooms right inside the volcano! There's the "Quiet Pool", too, which is just a large circular pool. The Resort is home to three fabulous restaurants. The Kona Cafe is my favorite! We always eat there two or three times during our stay. The "Tonga Toast" at breakfast is delicous, and the potstickers and the Kilauea torte at lunch and dinner are amazing! 'Ohana offers an all-you-care-to-eat Character breakfast. They serve dinner as well without the Characters. Captain Cook's Snack Company is the quick-service restaurant at the Resort. Since the refurbishment computers have been installed to take orders. Guests pick out which items they'd like, but there are people in the back making the food. There's also the Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show (Polynesian Luau) at Luau Cove. It's a lot of fun and the meal is all-you-care-to-eat. The Resort has an arcade, Moana Mickey's, and at the Mikala Canoe Club you can rent a personal watercraft or set out on a guided fishing excursion. And you just can't beat the transportation options at Disney's Polynesian Resort! Not only can you take a bus anywhere on property, you can take a boat or ferry to the Magic Kingdom and nearby Resorts. There's the ever-reliable Monorail that picks Guests up right at the lobby and whisks them away to nearby Resorts and the Magic Kingdom. There's also a short walkway to Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa if you'd like to go out to a nice, romantic dinner at one of the restaurants there or if you'd like to get a massage or other treatment at the Spa, and there's a walkway to the Transportation and Ticket Center where you board the Monorail to EPCOT.

Oh, and did I mention the staff is beyond amazing! When we arrived this past summer we were notified by the Manager that were V.I.P. during our entire stay and were upgraded to a room in the Concierge Longhouse. It was incredible! And we were showered with gift baskets and other treats during our whole stay.

Another thing, Disney's Polynesian Resort has the highest Guest return rate of all the Resorts at Walt Disney World. It seems everyone who stays at Disney's Polynesian Resort loves it and many of them return to the Resort year after year.

This website has all sorts of information about Disney's Polynesian Resort, and there's a lot of wonderful pictures...

The short answer: Having experienced QUITE A FEW combined with the experience of relatives, I'd say Saratoga Springs is kind of middle of the road and would serve good multiple purposes, price, amenities, interests for older kids, restaurants, decent proximity to the parks - but not foot distance...all resorts have transport. to the parks anyways.

Some of the more intensely themed resorts may appeal to you more depending on what you're looking for...like the Animal Kingdom Lodge, but I find that where those are strong w.r.t. themeing...they fall short slightly w.r.t. amenities or conveniences...like access to restaurants etc. But having a room right up against the animals is awesome!!

You might enjoy the Boardwalk Resort in the Epcot area. There is a lot to do, and Epcot, which is within walking distance, offers so much for older kids.
