Walmart will probably be the cheapest place to buy sand bags other than bagging them yourself, if you go to Home Depot they will help you carry the bags out and put them in your truck.

there is a product made by a company called ShurTrax that makes a product specifically for traction it is a mat that you lay in the bed of your truck and fill with water. I read the reviews and tests of it in Petersen's 4wheel and Offroad magazine, sounded pretty good

what kind of storm? is it a snow storm?
when I used to live in the North East I used to just park my truck outside before it snowed then just pack all the accumulated snow in the bed down, and add more if neccesary to make the snow level with the top of the bed, that was the best cheapest traction aid I ever had

Most stores that handle hardware and general purpost stores now sell what they call "tube bags" of sand. These are intended for people to place in truck beds or in RWC cars to load up the rear wheels with extra weight.
You can also try automotive parts stores, and get 50 lb bags of sand blasting sand for $5 or so. You could even get large bags of salt, that way you would also have some ice melting ability on site.

Usually you can go to your local town garage (DPW) and they have a pile of sand people can take for their driveways and such. You could shovel it right into the back of the truck or buy some big plastic storage containers at Walmart. Oh and see if they have a pile without salt in it if your going to shovel it right onto the truck bed.

Go out into the country and find some nice oak logs that have broken off the trees. Load about five or six of them in there and then sell them for firewood after the storm.
