If the area is really small and just on the surface, you can try cutting the burn off and then combing up the surrounding nap to camouflage the spot.
If it has to be replaced. You might try cutting the burned area out and replacing it with a small piece of matching carpet. You can cut the carpet from the back corner or a closet or underneath a cabinet or other area where it will not be missed. We did this at my daughter's house. We took the carpet out of the closet and put vinyl tile in the closet floor. We used the closet carpet to replace a section about 8" by 10" that was damaged by their puppy. You would never know anything had happened when we were done. It looked great.

Snip away the dead carpet using fine manicure scissors and tweezers. You want to remove only the dead (bunt) carpet and nothing more. Surly not ""inch by inch" more like millimeter by millimeter! After removing all the dead carpet. Find an unnoticeable area in the carpet such as the back of a closet and remove bits of good carpet using the same method. Try taking samples from multiple areas. Roll the new samples up to fit the hole, apply carpet glue to the base of the hole. Careful not to get any glue on undamaged fibers. Place the samples onto the glue cover with a piece of paper and a heavy book. Allow to dry for several hours. Remove the book and paper and blend the carpet with a wide tined comb. Also if there are singed but not burnt area try using a solution of 2 parts hydrogen peroxide 10 parts water. Dabbed the solution on the fibers spray with water and dab dry with a paper towel. Wait until the area is thoroughly dry before proceeding with gluing in new carpet samples.

You can cut the top layers with scissors on the really charred edges. Then I would use Mr. clean magic eraser and scrub at the rest.
Also, You can go to a back of a closet and cut a small piece of the same carpet about the same size and super glue it. It doesn't look 100% but I did that where a puppy chewed the carpet up and it improved the look a lot.

It would depend on the color of your carpet, This has happened to me also and I take a pair of scissors and "lightly try to pull up the Burn Place and Fluff up the Pile of Carpet. Then I will use a good Spray carpet Cleaner on it and then I will touch it up with White Out or something closer to the color of the carpet.. hope this helps

iam a carpet layer ,in minnesota. you can sometime scrape it with the edge of a spoon or knife ,but if it is deep and very black you can cut it out and glue a new peice in .but it depends on the type of carpet it is ? you can usaly steal a peice from in a closet or some wear you wont see its missing ,if you dont have any extra around from the insalation,i recamend to people to save some so if they have an accident like you have ,you can fix it ,or call a carpet layer .but the cost is $75..TO $100 .you have to keep the nap going the same dirrection or it win not look right .than you have to take the wear in to account to .

...get a good razor knife with a new blade in it and make multiple slashing motions across the burned fibers. Vacuum them or sweep them away with your hand. This will remove the burn, yet will leave a "low" spot in the fibers of the carpet. DO Not slash all the way to the carpet backing. Good luck and

Take sharp manicure scissors and snip out the burned threads.
If it is level loop this won't work.
Then go into the back of a closet and snip out some of the threads at the base. Use washable fabric glue and glue them into place to replace those removed.
If you do it just right it will not even show.

If the burn is only on the surface try cutting out the burnt part. This will only work for narrow or small burns. Just cut below the burn. You will never even notice!
