ok well im 13, and i have been having my period since i was 11. and everytime i get it i have really really bad cramps. (once to the point where i had to go to to the hospital) sometimes the pain comes from the right side of my stomach, something to do with my appendix. so last august the doctors were going to have my appendix removed but they didnt. so i was thinking of getting it removed since i hurts once in a while and really hurt when i get my period. so my question is will my appendix getting removed cause other pains or symtoms? and is it a good idea for me to get it removed. please i could use some advice??

Pain on the right side of the body is always evaluated for appendicitis or inflammation of the appendix. It is the most commonly performed surgery and many times the appendix is removed during other surgeries just as a future precaution because it is harmless to take it out. You should talk to your doctor about getting a pain reliever for your cramps and also about what you can do to minimize them during your period (food you eat, exercise).

Only a doctor can tell you if you need it removed. If your pains are not due to your appendix, then there's no need to remove it. Perhaps your parents should take you to a different doctor than before so you can be examined to make sure the issue is or is not an appendix problem.

Please ask your parents to take you to a OB/GYN. I had this exact problem when I was your age. I ended up having cysts on my ovaries. (This was many years ago). The cysts were discovered because I had surgery since the doctor thought it was my appendix. When they opened me up they found one of my ovaries (usually the size of an almond) was the size of a kidney (about as big as my fist). I had an ovary removed but was still able to have children. Do not be scared by this story because it was a long time ago. In the intervening years, medicine has come a long way and there are non-invasive ways of both diagnosing and treating cystic ovaries.

I'd try other things before removing that very important body part called the appendix.

1. Eliminate salty foods (like chips) from your diet before your menstruation. Salt makes your body retain water and those old blood cells need the fluid to help carry them out of your system.
2. Drink more water before and during your menstruation
2. Eliminate the sweets

well do u get pains on ur left side 2? because every month u feel ur cramps on a different side. You have 2 ovaries one month 1 will release an egg and the other one will do it the next month. So that is why one month ur right side will hurt and the next month it is ur left side

I had the exact same problem

I went to a medical doctor, they could do nothing.
I went to a natural doctor (homeopathy and such) and that didn't work.

Ask your parents about starting the birth control pill because that's the only thing that has made my periods painless.

=)

Abdominal cramps can be treated very well by homeopathy and similar alternative treatments. So, I will recommend that you talk to your parents and try them out instead of going for surgery. My best wishes to you.
