It depends if you mean a car that was imported to north america by an individual or a brand of car sold through a dealer network....if it is the latter I would take a guess and say VW.....If the former then probably some british brand brought over by an immigrant......

Individually, the first car bought and shipped into Michigan was in 1882 (that I have heard of), over ten years before the first car was ever built in the USA. I would bet it was not the first car import into the USA. Can anyone find anything before that?
