I dont get it. Every so often someone (usually a girl) will come one, talk about all her great qualities in a very positive manner and then ask if she sounds pretty? When its so clear that she is, at least by her own description, she must already get loads of compliments in person, why would she still need more reassurance?

Because she is being vain and wants to brag about it as well as receive compliments.

Because she's insecure. Either that, or she just loves being told she's pretty, for whatever reason.

She has no confidence in herself. She does't know who she really is.
