Snake ... Yes, as the others said, it could be several things. Try these ideas, please.
1 - Close the message, open it again, and make sure you clicked on Reply or Forward.
2 - If there's something "screwy" with the message's contents, then after opening a reply, click somewhere in the subject line and press Tab. It will not insert a tab in the subject, but it will take your insertion point to the top of the area in the message's body where text can be inserted/typed.
3 - If #2 above doesn't work, try a reply again and click anywhere inside the body of the message. Press Control-Home (to go to the top of the reply area) or Control-End (to go to the bottom of the reply area).
4 - Still not working? Try a Forward instead of a reply and just manually enter the address of the person you're replying to.
5 - Not yet? Then create a new message and type the information you wanted to add. Depending on the mail software you're using, you may be able to insert/attach the original message to this new message.
I hope this helps. Good luck, Snake.

Need to know the software you're using for email before your question can be answered.

just a glitch perhaps - try closing your mail program and reopening it. Better yet - reboot your computer.
