If you just got it then it may just need to get used to you and its new surroundings. The food may also be something that it is not used to, bettas can be very picky with what foods they will eat. If after a few days it still isn't eating then try a different food.

She's probably just getting use to her new surroundings. One of my bettas once went 3 weeks without eating. If she doesn't start eating in a couple days, try a different food. She might not like the one you have.
If she still doesn't eat, you may want to change the location of her tank. I use to have mine against an outer wall of my room and it made the water temperature way too cold for the betta. Once I moved it to the other side of my room, it was warmer and much happier.
But don't worry, then can go without food for quite a while. Just make sure to clean the tank clean and still give her food everyday, she should be fine. One day, she'll start eating.

There may be several factors:
* Time to adjust to the water, this make take several days (the betta will be fine without food for a few days)
* Water Temperature: your betta will slow down under 72 F and usually not eat under 60-65 F
(You may adjust temperature with a desk lamp and reptile infrared heat lamp, NEVER a clear bulb as this affects day/night cycles)
* Water conditions; make sure you have de-chlorinated your water and have some calcium in your water.
*Proper fish food; it is imperative for the digestive system of bettas to soak any dry food for 5 minutes to prevent air from entering the digestive tract which can lead to aeromonas bacterial infections. Also Bettas are carnivores, this does not mean they cannot have dry foods, this just means they should be aquatic protein based which many are not and this includes Tetra Bettamin and Wardleys Betta. Please read this article about proper fish nutrition:

that's the 2nd question in this and you have not got any diverse counsel. This fish needs to be in a minimum of a 5 gallon tank with a filter out and heater. My guess is that that's in a bowl. A bowl will stress the fish and the water would be too chilly. in case you re-positioned up this question with greater specifics reguarding the tank, you may get somewhat greater help.=

The reasons are because
1) Maybe it is getting used to its surroundings.
2) Are you feeding it flake food/pellets? Bettas are carnivores and eat ONLY alive/frozen worms, larvae etc.

The food might be too big for her. I feed mine flake food (which he likes very much, thank you) but I crush it up in my palm so the pieces are really small.

What are you feeding it? I had the same problem with mine, it wouldn't eat flakes or pellets. Try bloodworms if you're worried. They never refuse them.
