Same department and one of my co-workers (been here longer than me) and also happens to be sleeping with one of the supervisors here, recently found out she is pregnant. ever since she has been walking around the office making smart remarks to people in cluding me and telling people what to do,she has no athourity here, just a butt kisser if you what I mean! Anyway she heard me make a statement about her and now she has it out for me - trying to get me fired by saying things to bosses and most of all, walking around the office thinking she can make all these smart comments directed towards me. now this situation is critical because this is my job!I I need my job desperatly and it is the corporate world, so i can get fired for the simplest of things, what can i do. ive already talked to managment and so has she. they want the "high school" crap to end! Help!!!!

You sound like a decent person. Here are my general rules based on hard experience and mistakes I have made and learned from.

1. Do nothing worthy of reproach in word or deed - take the high ground for it is what real courageous and honest men and women do.
2. Confront her positively with calmness and kindness -- the one thing you can always control is your attitude and outlook--no other creature on earh has the power to do that. Tell her how you feel and you are sorry if you have offended her in some way; gently point out that getting along for the company's sake and each of your sake's is the right and smart thing to do. Her response is her response. Take responsibility for you. OK? :)
3.Take a course on dealing with difficult people.
4. Confront yourself - it is never one way no matter how bad it is. Do not talk about her or say anything adverse for you just keep making it go on and on -- be quiet, calm and kind and you gain the control you feel that you lack now.

5. Get a mentor (not a YES-YES fake friend who agrees with you) and/or a meditator involved.
6. Document what you are doing with a superior or colleague.

HOPE THIS HELPS. MICHAEL

Make sure you document everything!!!!! Pray Pray Pray that this critter decides to be a stay at home mom. Sometimes there is nt much you can do but look for a new job and ask politely in fron t of as many witnesses as possible, that you be spokento in a decent manner., you dont appreciate her sarcasm, be civil or not speak at all and if you have to wear a wire because you may have to prove it all later. Then just be serene and dont say much, work related only. I am praying that you will get a better job offer soon.

You need to "write" down the remarks, list the date and time - and the id of others that were present. Keep this up, after 10 comments - type them up and submitting in writing BY REGISTERED MAIL RETURN RECEIPT REQUIRED - to the primary supervisor (or Human Relations). WHO ever you send this information to they have to be in a position to re-assign you or your co-worker.

Make certain that you keep copies of everything, and receipts of the mail and records. If a resolution is not provided or negative occasions occur (layoff - termination), forward a complaint to the labor relation board. Forward with your complaint a copy of the information you accumulated. YOUR MAIN COMPLAINT IS YOUR CO-WORKERS ABUSE OF YOU IN THE WORK PLACE. This is against the law, and the two of you have to be treated equally. If she leaves, you will still have to keep the information so that if others in the company take action, you have the information for the labor relations board and unemployment hearing.

Most times, this is worked out with out any mishaps. Whenever someone is sleeping with someone else, care must be taken to avoid BACK STABBING.

Did you tell management that she was sleeping with one of their managers?

If you did and management did nothing, then you have to realize they were sending you a message. Be as nice to the ***** as you can and try to keep your job.

In the meantime document everything so if you do get fired you will be able to sue the basterds.

Stay focussed on the job you are paid to do.
Upper management is not stupid. They see you, and they see other co-worker, both
despensable. To lessen dissention, ask co-
worker to lunch with you, each pay your own.
In another atmosphere, you and she may be
able to see eye to eye. Don't let it be you
that takes the personal rif back to work.
