I think Bush says enough stupid remarks without having to attribute others' words to him.

The General was being quite literal, and he is correct: Modern medicine saves lives that would have been lost in wars past. The General isn't a politician, he's a pragmatist. The logic is simple: People get wounded in war, it's kind of the goal. You can either treat them or not treat them. If you have a problem with amputees surviving, the only choice in war is to stop treating them. He couldn't be baited into suggesting war was wrong.

I'd vote for this guy if he ever decided to run for office!

Do you have a link to that. I want to know what he really said.

But it is true that people tend to look at the deaths which are much lower in this war as a percentage of casualties. Our advanced trauma hospitals at the front line and our emergency evacuation capability have kept deaths to about 10% of casualties, instead of the 25% in Vietnam. The result is a lot of saved lives but a lot of severly incapacitated wounded.

35,000 casualties, everybody . 35,000 wounded vets.

That is more casuaties than our American War of Independence.

Is this war worth that cost?
