Besides cleaning up well, you can use warm herb vinegar (Put vinegar in a jar with a few springs of rosemary. Put this is a dark cabinet for a few days.) I've heard the combination kills a large amount of kitchen bacteria, plus it smells pretty good once the vinegar dries. You wipe it on the counters and let it air dry.
Another option is to take different spices and simmer them in a pot on your stove top. 1) Cinnamon, cloves, and apple pieces. 2) Lemons, citrus, and mint. 3) pickling spice with apples or Cinnamon. (I tend to save things for this purpose like the apple that got to ripe or the orange peels after a snack for this purpose.) Then fill the pot with water about 3/4 way and bring to a low boil and then turn to medium low and simmer. You can save it to use over and over again for several days, just by adding water.
This makes it smell like your cooking something yummy instead of the waxy or barely there smell of a candle and it's cheap!

You need find the source. You may have a piece that has dropped some place you cannot see. Look thoroughly.
Of course washing down all surfaces is required. But you know that.
Look down the edges/sides of your stove. Empty your trash each night after dinner. Any type of meat trays or scraps in the trash inside overnight will make an odor.
Spraying will not get rid of the odor if you haven't found the source. Does your stove need cleaning? I have to clean mine today.
Go on an all out search with your nose. Then you will find the source. Good Luck. I have personally had this happen.

If it's an on-going problem, identify the source, then clean it up.
If it's a problem that comes only when you cook fish, then the answer is obvious. In the warm weather, open the windows. In cold weather, run the range vent. Any remaining odors may be coming from the garbage pail. Keep that clean and empty to eliminate odors from lingering.

Wipe down your oven, the side walls and counter tops with white vinegar then pour a little in a cup and just leave it sitting out. It's inexpensive, cuts grease and you don't have to rinse it off cause it won't hurt you if you somehow ingest a little. You can also pour a little in your sink and wipe down the insides of your trash can too.
Here is how to do it quickly. After dinner and dishes are washed, wipe everything down with a sponge that has soapy water on it then bunch up about 3 paper towels and pour some white vinegar on them (not so they are dripping) then wipe the walls off around your stove, then stove top, counters. Remove the bag from your trash can then wipe the inside of the can out with the same papertowels, put the paper towels in the trash bag and take out the trash. When you come back in pour a little white vinegar in the sink (don't rinse it out) then pour a little in a cup and just leave it sitting out. You are done in less than 5 minutes.

You should try finding out what is causing the smell in the first place. I clean with a lemon scented cleaner. Also I pour baking soda into my sink drains and let it set a while before running water. That helps with any old food smells left behind. hope this helps fry those fish.

Use the fan when you are cooking. Clean up after you are done. Wipe down your stove and counters with a kitchen cleaner (409, Lysol, Mr.Clean, whatever you like). Take trash out. Maybe use candles.
