A pair will usually do well to gether as would a trio of 1 male and two females. They are quite peaceful as a rule and would go quite well with typical peaceful comminuty fish like livebearers, tetras, small catfish and the like. To help be sure there isn't any fighting you might avoid adding any other types of gourami to the tank.

I would get at least a pair of each Gourami, and from there you should have happy fish and you should be able to purchase any other tropical fish you like.
