Well it shut down the World Series. Bridges and double-decker freeways collapsed. There were highways that suddenly just ended with drop offs. The Embarcadero collapsed. The quake was felt at least north to the Napa Valley and caused damages. My relatives had plates flying everywhere, gas mains ruptured, cracks in walls, etc... I couldn't get through to Yountville for several days by phone to check on relatives. It was crazy.

**more than 1 or two people died. the top deck of the bay bridge and nimitz freeway collapsed onto the lower deck. and my grandparents neighbors died in a house fire because the gas mains in watsonville ruptured

Yeah I remember that. I was in Panama at the time. I couldn't get a call into the Bay area for days.

it is called the Loma Prieta. my parents were living in the city at the time (but i wasn't born so i obviously don't remember it). i live south of sf and hear about it all the time and they're consistently prepping us for the next "big one." I don't think anybody died in the Loma Prieta, maybe like 1 or 2 people. it was on the san andreas fault line. what do you need to know about it?

Yeah there was one and they were playing the world series at the time and I think is may have been Oakland vs San Fran

No SF did not fall into the ocean/bay, we survive,more or less and use to earthquakes,we have them pretty much everyday,even if we do not feel them..
